A Trip Down Memory Lane
Whoever knew that cleaning out an attic of a home that you’ve lived in for 27 years could be so cathartic? Well, I am here to tell you that it is! That’s exactly what I have been doing. I have been sifting through 27 years of memories – some joyous, some disturbing, some painful and some just plain sweet.
I found old clothes that I wore back in high school (that’s wear the disturbing memories come in). I also found my kid’s old soccer ball and my daughter’s dollhouse that her grandpa built for her. The dollhouse is one of those sweet and special memories. My daughter just loved that dollhouse. It was filled with the best miniature furniture at the time. We had so many little knick-knacks and decorative objects, it was just so much fun putting it together. The little dollhouse armoire was filled with miniature doll house clothing. She had so many pairs of cute shoes, that even I was jealous! My most favorite part of this masterpiece was the cute flower boxes filled with doll house flowers on the outside of the house. My dad really did a bang up job on that dollhouse.
I also found some old photo albums from when my mom was alive. That was a little painful to look through. Actually it was very painful. I had forgot that I even had them. Life just buzzes by so quickly it makes you appreciate all of the things you have to be greatful for when you sit down to enjoy special memories. Who knew cleaning out an attic could be so memorable.
